Quilting In All 3 Zones of My House Today...smile

Zone 1-the bedroom, where I do my handwork...gee that doesn't sound so nice...smile, SEWING THAT IS!  Liverpool played Stokes today and I made a few more hexagon flowers for my Tillies' Mosiac.  Slow progress, but that's what handwork is all about.

Zone 2-the dining room, I'm loading up a quilt top, Kitchen Roosters, from my basket I weighed in with last year and never finished.  I was looking for some backing material in my stash when I ran across this lovely vintage table cloth It's quite old and has seen better days, but, maybe on the back of a retro fabric style top, it will find new life.  It's a tad small, but we quilters are good at making things work.  I'll probably cut the wider sides off and sew to the bottom and top.

Zone 3-the upstairs bedroom/studio/husbands computer room, I'm working on the Flight of Swallows quilt.

Production feels great.  Idle hands are the devils workshop, or something like that.  Quilters are rarely idle.

2009 To Do List...One Quilt At A Time...smile

GRATITUDES:
Oh my goodness, how blessed I am.  My girls and husband are healthy and the sun is shining.  Thank you, once again for the many prayers and well wishes and gifts you gave to Jennifer and our family as she went through her horrible, horrible ordeal last year.  She's going in for her first 3 month scan, but, she looks and feels great, so we are anticipating a wonderful outcome, all clear.  She was inspired by the nurses that worked with her and now she's in school at U of L for the accelerated nursing program.

PROGRESS:
So looking back to the beginning of last year when I posted something similar, a weight tally with UFO's included.  I realize I've finished a few of the items in the basket, Chelsea's Quarter Fat Quarter quilt and the Country at Heart quilt.  I see 5 quilt tops I'm going to put on the machine first, the African Coin and the Kitchen Roosters quilt top.  The Old Glory, red white and blue quilt top I decided to enlarge for a bed, so I'll be piecing more on that later.  And this is a quilt top I will do for my mom, from a Moda pattern called Sonnet.  Justify Full
This is the last of the quilts I made with my Grandmother, Margie.  She liked to sew 4 inch squares, and I've been quilting them.

TO DO, MY LIST OF UFO's:
If any of you have lived through cancer with a loved one, you would know how it rocks your world.  And so, my list of unfinished objects is quite long.  The only thing I worked on consistently was this 1 inch hexagon quilt from the Tillie's Mosaic pattern, by Karen Witt.  It's was the perfect project to work on in the hospital waiting.  So, Ta Da, it's almost done.

I have 3 zones of quilting in my home.  My dining room has my quilting machine, a Brother 1500 on a Hinterburg table which I'll be loading these 3 quilts on in respective order.

Quilt zone number 2 is my hand work beside my bed.  I imagine this is not good for helping me sleep, but, my husband likes our drive in TV at the foot of the bed, so I guess it's okay. Tillie's mosaic and this toothbrush rug are my 2 hand work items at the moment.

Quilt zone number 3 is the my piecing and wall board.  I use a Pfaff sewing machine, it's the second one I've owned.  The built in walking foot, makes for smooth piecing.  Right now I've got the Flight of Swallows I'm piecing.  And soon to follow that is:

And of course, no quilter would be honest if she wasn't looking ahead to the next project and this is it for me, a Friendship Braid quilt pattern I found in this lovely french magazine, Quiltmania.

Well, here it is, the moment of reckoning, scales lurking, me cringing, arm hurting, I heft the basket and the result is a hefty 235 lbs.  Of course, this means my weight it hidden in there somewhere, but, I don't mind, projects finished or lb's lost, it's a "win win" for me.

HAPPY 2009!
Obama will rock the world with his optimism.  The guy is hitting the ground running, as my once favorite president, Bush, sits on the sidelines and is happy to let him take over...smile.

Sosa's Dagger into the Hearts of the Little Blue Nation

I Am Inspired...

We've got snow, and more snow, and combine that with the sadly, lovely, winter/grey days of the Ohio valley and you get some beautiful moments.  Like an artist making a painting and dotting the points of light on the canvas, we sometimes get lucky.

And the fairies get all melancholy, because I think they can't fly in snow, who would want to?

The weather in the Ville, which is what they, sports aficionados, call Louisville, is grey.  And well, you know I'm a big English soccer fan, go Liverpool!, but, this last weekend I happened to catch the last heart stopping minutes of the University Kentucky against University of Louisville (Kentucky) basketball game.  Whew it came down to the last few seconds and one hero of a guy made the final 3 pointer to put it away, check out the YouTube above.

Quilting in the Valley's Girl Gina, has made this most amazing list of items to do.  I've been busy while my DD #2, Chelsea was home.  We made a dress together for her.  It looks like something right out of Anthropologie catalog, tre chi chi.  There's still a little hand work to be done.

My inspiration from Gina...our annual Quilter's Day Out event has sent out a quilt challenge, that being "Home".  Well I was racking my brain trying to come up with something, when I remembered all the house block patterns I'd bought at the end of last year.  Ah yes, retail therapy and UFO work in partnership to keep me out of the kitchen!  YES!!

Well, at the beginning of last year, when I first started my blog, I loaded a basket with many UFO's and I will first look through those to find what I've actually finished.  The purpose of loading the basket full of patterns and fabric was to disguise my weighing in.  Which I will attempt to do again tomorrow, as this is getting to be quite a long blog moment.  And if I was JK Rowling or Stephanie Meyer, you might like to read on, but, since I'm not, I'll stick to quilting and pictures for my 1000 words...smile.

Blogger is having problems loading my pictures, I'll try again tomorrow...love all.
