Hubbard's Glacier...One of the biggest in AK. WOOT!

Gliding in close to the Hubbard's Glacier is a little spooky and awe inspiring.  

The sights and sounds are magnificent!

Gliding slowly into the grey cold spookiness of the glacier, I felt a little tingly.  How amazing is the blue beauty of a glacier.  Besides the sights there are the sounds, cracking thunder and crumbling ice.  I was so happy to share this experience with my husband and folks!  We started out up top and were able to soak it in a bit, before we went to our balcony room.  It's nice being able to sit in the warm comfort of the room and then go in and out on the balcony to see and hear the explosive sounds of beauty. 

Skagway, A Train and Suspension Bridge, Panning for Gold, Plus-Dessert/Formal Night...smile

 Our all day excursion in Skagway began with a bus ride over the Gateway to the Klondike.  The weather was not our friend.  

 With a brief stop in order for us to build our own folksy trail guide, Inukshuk, which is an eskimo word used for navigation on we went to cross a suspension bridge.  Yikes!  A little scary.

 But, on we went to the train which was to take us back to the boat.  The train was pretty cool.  We did see a bear, but, didn't get the camera out in time.  The mountains were still snow capped with snow left over from last year.  Apparently there was a lot of snow.  The days were still long with sun and so, flowers were beautiful.  Everywhere you looked was another picture postcard of beauty.  The weather made our bridge to nowhere look even more mysterious.  The train ride scenic beauty was only as close as the fog would allow, but still was nice.  

 On we went to pan for gold and was taught the tips and tricks by an old prospector that long since hung up his pan.  We had really good everywhere, except here.  It was our excursion.  Also, the gold we got combined for a total 35.00 which we had made into a necklace for my mom. 

  Getting back on the boat, we went to our rooms to rest up for the last formal night and the dessert evening, which is at 11:00 at night.  All the hard working chefs get to come out hand out the desserts and show off their carvings of ice.  I got a picture with the captain and off we went to the glacier.
