I finished my Dad's quilt
Retreats are great for finishing things. My dad's mother died when he was 12 years old. His step mother gave this grandmother's fan quilt top to my mother. A few years ago my mom gave it to me. I was able to finish it at this retreat.
I had already done the quilting and all it needed was the binding. I was able to piece the binding out of reproduction fabrics. The rest of the quilt top was in pretty good shape except for a few stains I could not get out.
My favorite batting comes from Quilt King Products in Liberty, Kentucky. If you go there you can take a tour of the manufacturing business. They tell me it's their own mix of polyester batting. My machine loves it and it has a very nice relief around the thread ditch. It's also light weight yet warm.

What a treasure...it looks lovely!
Beatiful quilt! I love the echo stitch around the fans. Now, I am going to be Miss Nosey Pants - what kind of machine are you using on your mid-arm set up? I am ready to buy a frame for my Janome 1600P.
