Finding your Rhythm in life is essential

Row, row, row your boat; rollin', rollin', rollin', keep them doggies rollin'...Do you get me? These are rhythmic songs, one from childhood, and one, that dates me, from my youth...any Clint Eastwood fans out there?

You experienced hand quilters know that when you find the rhythm of hand quilting, there is nothing more relaxing. The sensual feeling of rocking back and forth may have something to do with it, but, it does feel good. Of course this is many callouses later than beginners, but, stick with it if you want to relax and I believe it can be physical therapy for some. FYI my favorite thimble is the coin thimble from Clover.

Just like the comfortable rhythms in life, so does cancer require these same rhythms to be found. Although, there was no rhythm found in radiation, just pure pain and chaos-whew! glad that's over! Now it's back to finding our rhythm with the chemotherapy, once again. Jennifer is back to the Kosair Children's Hospital, in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is the geriatric patient on the floor with androgynous toddlers. There are a few other teens but, mostly babies and little ones. Rhythm for us is Chemo every other week, because, Ewings Sarcoma has had best results with a compressed schedule.
Ewing's is a classic childhood cancer, that's why we are with the kids. I'm not complaining. The next treatment is July 28, the week after her birthday, she'll be 24. On the cusp of life, of which she will dive back into and find her own rhythm-off the meds and back in school to begin, hopefully, this Spring.

I see the faintest glimmer of light...smile

Fernando Torres - The King ( 26,27,28,29 goal )

Sports has become big business, but, what I really like about soccer/football, in Europe is the players seem to really enjoy the game. You would never see such happiness from players in the US, and I wonder why?

Cancer and Stay for the Credits on Walle

Bald is Beautiful-the upside of cancer

Jennifer has finished the radiation (30 days) and only has 6 chemo treatments to go. We spent most of the month of the June in the hospital because of pain and infections. Instead of finishing in August, it looks like now it may be September/October. My daughter is holding up nicely and if it's possible to settle into the situation, I think we have-such is life and the cards we've been dealt...yada yada yada.

On those few days when she feels well enough to participate in normality, we grab it with all the gusto of a PMS insomnia induced night at the sewing machine-you quilters and sewers know what I'm talking about.

Such was yesterday and we went to see a movie-Walle. Jennifer liked it and I did too. Pixar is a master at saying a lot without saying anything.

Warning:::We left before the credits finished and now I'm hearing, you need to stay and watch the credits. Apparently this is a trend in movies-not just funny outtakes, but, essential to the plot. Soooo if you go, wait till the very end and tell me what we missed!

Shhhhh.....I'm working on a baby quilt and I think she's watching, so I'm going to show it when it's finished.

Happy Fourth of July Everybody!

I would invite everyone to post pictures of their patriotic quilts if they have one. This is the closest thing I have to a patriotic quilt. I made it in one day, on, of all days, 9/11/01. Of course, there's not much in explanation needed for the inspiration. It seems that day we were sucker punched.

It had hung in our church for about a year, and first people complained about the the "In God We Trust" banner, so that was removed. Then someone thought we did not need to have a flag in the church lobby. So it was removed, I never did understand that explanation.

A New Blog, to me at least...smile

Annie's Quilting Stash is a delightful new blog, to me at least. It's probably been around for a while, but, since the internet consists of 59 kazillion thousand blogs, it's no wonder I'm just now finding it.

It's always good to add another great sourse of inspiration to my list at the right.

Happy Quilting!
